It was a beautiful day today as we met, with our greyhounds at the Woof Pet Bakery in Old Town Spring.

Janny and myself along w/Vegas and Whiskey were there to represent GPA/Houston...............

In spite of the fact there were just the two of us, we had, I think a very fruitful afternoon.

A couple came to OTS, specifically to see the greyhounds. This is 1 adoption for sure.....as soon as they can get their appointment to meet at the kennel to make that selection. (They had been through all the steps of the adoption procedure, except for that last step-- Finding that hound that selects them for his/her home.)

....And then there was a lady that spent several hours with us, well past 4pm. A sincerely interested lady who called her daughter to drive in to meet our two hounds. I think there will hound in her future. She had always wanted a greyhound and she was now approaching the time in her life where she felt it was right to bring that retired racer into her home--

Yes, it was a long afternoon, but it was a beautiful day and the public was there for us. Everyone seemed so friendly and interested in learning more about the retired racing greyhound. Looking forward to another greyt afternoon in June.

Although not ready for adoption yet, Starsky will be soon. I freely admit to having a soft spot for big, brindle boys and Starsky fits that role perfectly. He is totally gorgeous and a real snuggler on top of that. He even knows how to give an honest to goodness hug! When invited, he wraps his front legs around your waist and lays his head on your chest or shoulder. Not many ladies can keep from swooning when you get a Starsky hug and can look into those soft brown eyes! This boy came in as a return through no fault of his own, so he comes already familiar with the whole home scene so if you have a soft spot for those big brindle boys, come meet Starsky and get a hug for yourself!

I got the reward of spending time with MaeMae today and she is just the sweetest little petite girl. Very smart little lady as well. She learned a new trick in less than 5 minutes!
She has such pretty eye make-up as well. I wanted to write a little something about a girl I feel has been at the kennel too long. Miss MaeMae. This girl is a true "lady". She is very dignified and sits in her kennel watching you, just waiting for you to choose her. She always waits patiently and never seems to be in a hurry to get anywhere, although she is curious and wants to explore her world. MaeMae really does love her scratches. When you pet her, she stretches her head up as if saying, I like this massage. She has such a calm and centered energy about her. You can tell she looks at those other dogs sometimes and is thinking "what in the world are they doing?!". Again, this girl is definitely a "lady". She always minds her manners and has a graceful step. Even when she is excited to go out during the Saturday morning volunteer time, she never pulls on her leash. It's hard to not love her inner kindness and just want to snuggle with her. Her thick soft coat would make a great snuggle companion for anyone who is looking for a big loving girl.
